Brian May and Sophia Lucia Parola play a couple spending a romantic evening on the beach. Sophia’s character must get the last bottle of wine after losing a game of rochambeau. On the way back, she is attacked by a horde of zombies. Brian’s character has to make a split-second decision to either save his love or save himself. Glass Eyes is a straightforward zombie story. Meyers sets the stakes of this loving relationship between Brian and Sophia beautifully as it leads to the aftermath of Brian’s choice....

During production, Rock meets girls as young as three getting their hair permed in salons across the country–which seems pretty crazy after a scientist shows the effects of the chemicals used in perms on aluminum cans. Just so you know…they burn through metal. Have fun rubbing that on your head....

Low Down Larry Versus the Giant Reptile is chock full of dino-puppets. One battle between T-Rex and Stegosaurus reminds me of that iconic scene in Walt Disney’s Fantasia....

The almost half-hour-long film tells the tale of a young Ukrainian girl named Sarah (Helena Aviv Perez). She raises a Siberian Tiger cub named Mushka while trouble and adventure ensue as he grows up. It starts with Sarah enjoying life with her grandmother (Kelly Hoover). Unfortunately, her grandma falls and is placed in the hospital, so Sarah is shipped off from Kyiv to the countryside to live with her rugged, non-talkative father (Tanner Beard)....

As a short that keys in on a single musical number, you get the feeling that a larger tale could exist, with even more music and characters. Which would be fine, but the sequence nonetheless stands on its own. It’s entertaining, even if the reality of our protagonist’s life is anything but. Like many a musical, I enjoy taking the film as it expresses the rules of its own cinematic universe, but I also like the potential idea that we’re watching a really cheerful short film about a woman who just lost her mind....

Though van den Broek’s non-linear fantasy appears to be set in Victorian England, it clearly transcends time and place in a very credible way; his story is really very simple and universal. It is about an old man named Simeon (Stuart Adams) who is presumably married to a young artist named Celestina (Eloise Black). His love dissipates to jealousy, and then obsession, when Celestina runs off with a young poet and becomes pregnant....

Tomas is a German film director living in Paris with his boyfriend and fellow creative Martin. He is seemingly happy to play second fiddle to Tomas and his selfish antics, hidden behind a guise of artistic genius (at least in his own mind). Their relationship works – until it doesn’t. After wrapping production, Agathe and Thomas begin a fling, and soon they’re living together....

Lee first came to notice in the 1998 feature “Shopping for Fangs,” which used an Asian-American cast to loop a series of stories which mixed surreal comedy (including a character who convinces himself that he’s a werewolf) with shattering drama (the emotionally isolated wife of a wealthy businessman finds her world crumbling). The movie was noteworthy since it was not a typical (or perhaps stereotypical) examination of Asian-American life. But beyond the non-traditional casting was a vibrant sense of style coupled with a remarkable substance....

The work addresses confronting trauma, seeking justice, and overcoming personal hardship, all on a budget. In the opening, shot in black and white, a young, disheveled boy’s mother comes in and verbally and physically abuses him for not eating a sandwich....

We meet Grimm (David Bianchi), who has developed the breakthrough cranial processor and is determined to test it on himself. His attempt to self-Frankenstein doesn’t go well, setting him up with a never-ending painkiller habit to deal with the wounds....

So Marcella promptly goes out trying to buy a tow truck as she will need a new job to help support her daughter. She goes about learning the rules of towing by doing everything everyone warns her not to do....
