Director Jude Anthany Joseph begins 2018: Everyone Is A Hero with a soothing and comfortable introduction to the characters that, at the time, weren’t connected by any strand. Filled with a powering and commendable ensemble, an excellent one-hour of the film keeps you with these characters, Anoop, Nixon, Shaji, Manju, Narain, and Mathachan, among many others – subtly peeping into their traits, values, backdrops, and ambitions and gradually familiarizing us with them....

Edward (Joe Wilkinson) and his wife Helen (Laura Aikman) run their estate in the English countryside as a bed and breakfast that functions as a spiritual retreat for its residents. Sadly, the lack of guests and a slew of negative online reviews have put the place in bad financial shape, meaning Edward is forced to put the property up for auction. Still, Helen’s parents, Margaret (Jane Asher) and Walter, are visiting the retreat to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary....

In 2018, a helicopter crashed on Bad River, located near Lake Superior, the largest freshwater system by area in the world. During the crash investigation, an exposed pipeline was elevated from the ground. A Canadian company, Enbridge, owns the pipeline. If the pipe were to leak (which is highly likely due to its elevated position), it could be catastrophic. Although the main topic of Bad River is the exposed pipeline that was never agreed upon in the first place, it is, on the whole, about Indigenous heritage....

Dicle Ozcer’s short film, Big Break, is the story of one such emerging actor, Deena (Brianna Ripkowski), who is attending the premiere of the war epic, “The Rightful Wrong,” with her friend, Simon (Christopher Tedrow). Deena may only be in one scene, but it’s a good one, sort of. She plays a nurse and shares the screen with the film’s star, Harrison Clooney (Pourya Rahbar), and for artistic reasons, he needs to be completely nude....

But in this film (made in 2004 but only now getting theatrical release), stay-at-home mom Joanne Schwartzbaum emerges from the somnambulist existence to a breathless new universe as someone who had a close encounter (in her backyard, no less) and wants another spin with those little green men. And she gets more than she bargained for, including an “X-Files” worthy chase involving a mysterious ancient document and close encounter of a decidedly cheesy kind....

In the world of Muppets, Goelz is best known for performing Gonzo, the fuzzy blue “whatever” who delights to maniac stunts in the name of art, rounding out the trio of Kermit the Frog and Fozzie Bear. For twenty years, Gonzo defied explanation. He isn’t human, he isn’t a turkey (“He looks a little like a turkey, but not much,” said Kermit in “The Muppet Movie”), and while he was proven to be an alien in “Muppets From Space”, the others in his species didn’t go into any further explanation....

However, the journey isn’t as fun as roughing for a few days sounds. Sam’s a smart girl, not that Chris would know, as if it doesn’t involve the camping trip directly, he barely says anything to her. Smith also serves as one of the film’s producers, and it’s quite easy to see why he shepherded the project through his own company. The character of Big Apple “date doctor” Alex “Hitch” Hitchens seems just about tailor-made for him, playing off of his well-established, smooth screen persona while comfortably allowing him to stretch into new territory. Leeson’s widower Finbar is outwardly a peaceful man in the Donegal village where he lives, a rumpled pipe smoker and best friends with the local Gard (Ciarán Hinds), of all people....

The monster in question is Isabel, the most spoiled movie child since Veruca Salt. In trying to avoid the overbearingness of her own upbringing, Laura gives Isabel everything she wants and folds to temper tantrums with a smile. Of course, there is a much more literal monster in the film, the titular El Cucuy. For gringos like me, he’s explained as a boogeyman who preys on misbehaving children. In a great segment, the girl’s father introduces that charming devil and the movie’s only likable character, Carlos....

Once at Daytona Beach, Red finds herself struggling to survive. Sleeping on the beach overnight works at first, but she can’t sustain the early success of her adventures as the reality of her situation starts to set in. Worst of all, Lou has noticed that Red isn’t actually visiting her grandmother, and has other disturbing plans for Red. Luckily, before Lou can realize whatever sick ideas he has about Red, she strikes up a friendship with local surfer Kayla (Paige Bunker), who becomes Red’s traveling partner as they continue Red’s plan to visit Cumberland Island....
